Sony is emphasizing more on it’s PlayStation lineup of consoles and the network itself. That’s why they are working to improve the network by reshuffling the management. Executive level management is facing shuffling after the decision to enhancing the PlayStation network. From 1st April, Jim Ryan will become the President and Chief Executive Officer of Sony Interactive Entertainment and current President John Kodera will assume the post of Vice President of the company that handles the PlayStation consoles business.
The shift in the management level positions indicates the will of the parent company to focus more on the consoles business and improve the performance of the company. Sony Network CEO Kenichiro Yoshida announced the shuffle and released a press statement. In the statement, he said that the change in positions at Sony Interactive Entertainment would ensure sustainable evolution of the PlayStation platform and further growth of the same. According to the company statement, Jim Ryan will handle all the organizational operations and Vice President John Kodera will oversee the development of Playstation Devices and PlayStation Network. Currently, the PlayStation network has over 90 million active users.
Sony Network CEO Kenichiro Yoshida is signaling to capitalize the PlayStation Network by growing it further. Currently, Sony is giant in Movies and Music industry as well and might use the PlayStation Network to promote their services to the active users. Current president Jim Kodera Joined the Sony network back in 1992 and was appointed as President of Sony Interactive Entertainment in October 2017. He previously worked in the Audio business of the company and was brought to steer the company in 2017. The PlayStation is facing stiff competition from the giants like Microsoft with their Xbox Consoles and also from Nintendo. To tackle the competition and adapt to ever-changing industry and trends, the company decided to switch the executive posts in this shuffle.
