Facebook has announced to bring new features to its Portal devices. The company has included support for the streaming app Netflix. Facebook said that it will include Netflix to Portal TV in countries wherever Portal is available. Facebook’s Portal TV is a media device. It works with tv sets at home. The device offers access to several streaming services. It already supports Amazon Prime Video, Sling TV, and Showtime. The latest development is an indication that negotiations with Netflix had been going on in the industry for some time. The video streaming service had been working to make its service available on various platforms.

According to Facebook, Netflix has already begun to roll out an update for Portal TV users. The Netflix app is available to all the Portal TV users worldwide. Meanwhile, Facebook said that it will also include easier ways to launch Netflix and other streaming apps on Portal TV. It has announced to bring a new remote for Portal TV as well. It will help users to launch streaming services quickly. The remote has buttons for Facebook Watch, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video. Facebook said that it will start shipping the remote with Portal TV.

Earlier in September, Amazon made an announcement that it will support Netflix on its Amazon Echo Show smart displays. Google has also added Netflix support to its smart display products. The search engine giant added support for Netflix on the Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max earlier in July this year. According to Facebook, its Portal TV is the future of video calling as its main feature is video-calling. It can bring 50 people together for a call. Facebook also said that it is working to bring the Zoom app to its Portal devices. The video calling app is hugely popular among businesses. Zoom recently said that it is planning to support smart displays. Facebook too has promised that Portal will soon see more video calling services.
