Apple and Qualcomm are fighting the intense battle in the United States of America courts over the patent issues. According to Qualcomm, Apple has infringed three patents of the company and sued them in the courts. Now, the jury has decided to rule against Apple and accepted the fact that Apple has infringed three patents from Qualcomm in its iPhone devices. Now, Apple has to pay Qualcomm $31 million in settlements as the company has asked for the damages and infringement of patents.

Qualcomm accused Apple to redesign and reuse the Qualcomm technology related to Battery Charging, Data Traffic Method to Allow apps to download faster, and graphics processing. But Apple said their former engineer named Arjun Siva had developed the technology and they are not responsible for anything Qualcomm is accusing. But the chief witness Arjun Siva didn’t appear before the jury to testify on the claims that Apple made. As Arjun Siva is now working at Google, he decided not to testify from his former employer. As the main witness that was expected to save Apple from embarrassment and fine failed to appear, Jury chose to rule against the company.

Qualcomm is providing the network modems to the company from 2011. In 2017, Apple intermittently replaced Qualcomm with Intel as its exclusive chipset provider. Apple claimed that due to the issues between them and Qualcomm resulting in contract termination, Qualcomm is using its grudge against the company to file the lawsuit. This is one of the most critical battles won by Qualcomm ahead of a more significant dispute. In a more considerable conflict, Apple, Intel, and the Federal Trade Commission have accused Qualcomm of Monopolistic practices in mobile phone modems industry. Qualcomm’s time in the United States Market depends on the more significant lawsuit that is going on trial next month.
