If you were planning to purchase a Verizon Google Pixel 3 from best buy and use another SIM, like many did with the previous Pixels, you will be disappointed. Reports suggest that the Google Pixel 3s sold via Best Buy are SIM-locked to Verizon. It was found that users are not able to use other carriers’ SIM cards on the Pixel 3 devices bought from Best Buy stores. Previously, even when the devices were Verizon-locked, users were able to replace the Verizon SIMs with others. This time, the restriction has got even tougher from the huge cell-phone carrier.

There is nothing (technically) wrong here to talk about, you know. According to the official details from Best Buy store, they are selling a “Verizon” Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. The point was that previous devices — both the Pixel and Pixel 2 — were sold with the same label but used to work with other SIM cards as well. This time, both Verizon and Google have worked together to stop that from happening. Previously, the only condition was that you had to purchase the Pixel device without linking it to a Verizon account. Thanks to many of the available options, it was an easy task too.

This issue does not mean that you can’t use a Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL on a non-Verizon carrier. There is always the option of purchasing the device from Google Store, in which case SIM locks would not happen. Google is also offering zero-interest financing options, in case you are interested. Rumors also suggest that you will be able to unlock the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL from Verizon network if. SIM is put and used on the device for a period of 24 hours. Despite all these, the sole decision from Google to choose Verizon as the exclusive carrier has cut down options in terms of monetary benefits and other deals.
