Overview

The global Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) market is on a steady growth path, rising from USD 1.4 billion in 2024 to around USD 2.6 billion by 2034, expanding at a 6.2% CAGR between 2025 and 2034. North America leads the adoption, accounting for 43.90% of global demand, equivalent to nearly USD 0.6 billion, driven by grid modernization and renewable integration.

FACTS solutions use advanced power electronics to manage voltage, power flow, and grid stability in real time. Their role has become critical as electricity systems absorb more wind and solar capacity, which introduce variability and congestion into conventional transmission networks. By June 2025, India had already installed 235.7 GW of non-fossil capacity, including 226.9 GW of renewables and 8.8 GW of nuclear, significantly increasing the need for stabilising grid technologies such as FACTS.

Investment activity supports this expansion. Approximately INR 1,400 million (USD 16 million) has been allocated to expand HVDC and FACTS manufacturing and testing facilities in India, alongside an additional ₹140 crore to strengthen domestic power-equipment production. Project-level demand is also rising, with orders of ₹19.7 crore for FACTS reactors and ₹75.19 crore for European FACTS system supplies. Investor confidence is reflected in an ₹859-crore IPO and a separate ₹20 billion green-energy investment that expands the renewable pipeline feeding FACTS demand.

Public funding further underpins growth. The U.S. Department of Energy committed USD 11 million for high-voltage transmission projects, including USD 3.3 million for next-generation technology development. In Europe, Poland’s Modernisation Fund allocated PLN 4.15 billion (USD 1.14 billion) to energy-storage and grid-flexibility projects, reinforcing long-term demand for FACTS solutions.
