There have been talks about children getting infected from Covid-19 in recent times. However, a new study has said that the overall risk of Covid infection-causing severity in children is extremely low. Also, the chances of death due to infection are almost nil. The study also said that the risk of hospitalization remains low in children. It, however, warned that children with chronic illnesses and neuro-disabilities are at the risk. The team made a detailed analysis of the public health data and found that young people who lost their lives due to Covid-19 had suffered life-limiting conditions. This made their condition worsen and they couldn’t fight the virus. Several of them also had recorded complex neuro-disabilities.

In children, the team said that the Covid test was found positive at the time of their death. But Covid was not the reason behind their death. They lost the battle to other causes. The team said that majority of the kids and young people who died are over 10 years of age. They are of Black and Asian ethnicity. The vaccines are currently not being given to those below 18 years of age. They don’t have underlying health conditions due to Covid-19. They are not at risk just like the young and old age people are. Notably, the decision to permit Covid-19 vaccines for children is a complex matter. It requires in-depth study. The UK’s vaccine advisory group said that it will consider the findings to chalk out the vaccination strategy for children.

The study, however, said that certain groups of children may be benefitted from the Covid-19 vaccines. The group said that it will also study data obtained during studies in kids in the US and Israel. The data used in the study was taken from February 2021. The situation has changed a lot since then. The Delta variant is now prevalent in the country. It is highly transmissible and causes hospitalization. It also required heavy medication. But researchers believe February data hasn’t changed in the case of the Delta variant.
