Google said that the Dark Mode is an alternative to light mode. The Dark Mode will match Dark Mode apps on iOS devices. Users will require to separately enable the Dark Mode to change the interface. They can enable it the Settings of Google Maps. The Dark Mode has been in fashion for the last few years. The mode saves the battery as it consumes less power. Also, the device runs for a long when in the Dark Mode compared to the light mode. Besides, it enhances the battery its life. Apple had launched the Dark Mode in 2019 with iOS 13. But Google delayed rolling out the Dark Mode to its apps. It started providing the Dark Mode support to Android users this year.

For Google Map, Google has already rolled out the dark theme. Meanwhile, Google has announced that the app will now offer two different options. One is related to the status of traffic near the user’s location. The second one is about the shortcuts for the search bar and places. The company has also launched a new Messages integration feature. Users can now share their real-time location. The location by default will be shared for just an hour. It can, however, be extended. Google is providing options to extend it by up to three days and also cancel the access. iPhone users can also add a Google Maps widget to their device’s Home Screen or the Today View.
