Ahead of the holiday season, Amazon is letting its Prime members in the United States send gifts to their family and friends in a very convenient way. Prime members can send gifts using their mobile number or email address. This will save Prime members from providing the complete mailing address of recipients. This feature offers members an alternative at checkout. This feature is really helpful if you don’t have the address of someone to whom you want to send the gift. Under these features, members would be able to select the option – ‘let the recipient provide their address.’ And then you will have to provide either the person’s mobile phone number or email address.

Once the member will checkout, the recipient of the gift would receive a text message or an email – depending on what information has been provided at checkout. This will let them accept the gift and provide Amazon with the address where they want the gift to be delivered. They can provide the address from their own Amazon account. The recipient would have the option of exchanging the gift item ordered by the sender with an Amazon gift card. This can be done easily without even letting the gift-giver know about the exchange. The recipient can check the item ordered by the sender by just clicking on the notice from Amazon.

While the company is hopeful of getting more people to subscribe for the membership, experts believe that it is not enough for getting new subscribers. The company said that the feature can be used only through the mobile app at the moment. Amazon is using this feature to lure more and more people to sign up for a Prime membership. The company has timed the launch of the feature well as it comes just ahead of that period of the year when it has to tackle the annoyances of the gift-giving. Amazon said that the feature is available for prime members across the United States from October 4.
